About The Position

This position is for an Adjunct English as a Second Language (ESL) course that is associated with a 3-unit discipline-specific course (ADM 2381). The course is designed for non-native English speakers and focuses on developing proficiency and confidence in written and oral communication skills while acquiring knowledge in the discipline. While examination questions in the discipline-specific course can be answered in English or French, all tests and assignments in the language class must be completed in English. The ESL Professor is required to attend the discipline-specific course, ADM 2381 A00, which is held in person on Fridays from 5:30pm to 8:20pm.

Requirements

Master’s degree in teaching English as a second language, or a discipline relevant to English as a second language teaching.
Two years of experience teaching ESL at the university level, or equivalent.
Familiarity with software and technologies relevant to teaching English as a second language.
Knowledge of immersion pedagogy demonstrated by the resume.
A professor who has taught an FLS / ESL course at OLBI before January 1, 2018 is considered to meet the diploma requirement.
Required attendance for ADM 2381 A00 Friday 5:30pm-8:20pm - in person.

Responsibilities

Teach an Adjunct English as a Second Language course (ESL 3181 B00) associated with ADM 2381 A00.
Develop proficiency and confidence in written and oral communication skills for students.
Assist students in acquiring knowledge and expertise in the discipline of ADM 2381.
Ensure all tests and assignments in the language class are completed in English.
Attend the discipline-specific course, ADM 2381 A00, on Fridays from 5:30pm to 8:20pm in person.
