The Environmental Studies Concentration at Soka University of America (SUA) invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor of Environmental Studies beginning Fall 2026. The successful candidate will be an environmental scientist with relevant teaching or disciplinary experience to teach courses such as Climate Change (EOS 402), Water Resources (EOS 322), and/or Sustainable Agriculture (EOS 280). These are interdisciplinary courses that link science and policy. Qualified candidates are expected to hold a PhD. in a relevant environmental field and have demonstrated success teaching related courses at the college or university level. Evidence of scholarly work and a demonstrated ability to inspire and attract Liberal Arts students to environmental courses will be highly valued. Candidates should demonstrate responsiveness toward and understanding of diverse student backgrounds and experiences. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to the university’s mission to develop global citizens. Having the ability and willingness to work collegially is essential, as is an understanding of our interdisciplinary liberal arts curriculum.
