About The Position

The Liberal Studies program at the University of Illinois Springfield has occasional need for adjunct (per course) instructors. Adjunct faculty are required to complete mandatory annual employee training, including Ethics, and Preventing Harassment & Discrimination. Adjunct faculty teaching online courses must successfully complete the Building Digital Community (BDC) self-paced course during their first semester teaching online to be eligible to teach additional online courses at UIS. The minimum compensation for adjunct (per course) teaching at UIS ranges from $2700 to $3600, based on previous teaching experience at UIS and whether the instructor has earned a terminal degree. The University of Illinois Springfield is one of three members of the University of Illinois system, serving approximately 4,000 students with a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs. UIS emphasizes excellence in teaching, and faculty are expected to provide a balance of scholarship and service activities.

Requirements

Master's degree or higher in the discipline or subfield for undergraduate programs.
If Master's degree is in a different discipline, must have completed a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline or subfield of application.
Maintain employment eligibility through mandatory annual training.
Successfully complete the Building Digital Community (BDC) self-paced course during the first semester teaching online (for online instructors).
