University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach on-site in Hagerstown, MD, for the Social & Behavioral Sciences & Gerontology program. Specifically, we are seeking faculty for the following course(s): Parenting Today (BEHS 343): An overview of critical issues in modern parenting in the United States and the world. The objective is to use an interdisciplinary perspective to apply research and theory in family development to practical decision-making, taking into account modern and historical trends such as gender roles, socioeconomic status, and single parenting and the impact of divorce on children. Discussion examines the role of race and ethnicity in parenting, LGBT parenting, and multigenerational and military families. UMGC is committed to helping students achieve success not only with us but also in their professional fields. As a result, we actively seek faculty members who are scholar-practitioners: professionals who are actively and successfully engaged in their field who additionally wish to help the next generation of professionals grow in their knowledge and expertise through education.
