About The Position

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The role is responsible for creating a learning environment that helps students reach their goals and providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi. The position is located at Ivy Tech Community College - South Bend and pays $47.35 per contract hour.

The instructor facilitates student learning in accordance with College policies and course objectives, uses available technology to enhance instruction, and develops or maintains course materials and assessments. The instructor monitors student progress, maintains accurate records, and provides interventions and referrals to support student success. The role also requires professional and cooperative interactions, compliance with College policies and applicable regulations, and maintaining a safe, quality online learning environment. The instructor must foster an environment in which people from varied backgrounds feel respected and valued, and meet the faculty credentials specified in ASOM 7.1 for the relevant instructional area.

Requirements

• Strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction.
• Meet faculty credentials outlined in ASOM 7.1 for the specific area(s) of instruction.

Responsibilities

• Deliver assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
• Use available technology to enhance instructional methods.
• Develop and maintain course outlines, syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
• Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other required documentation.
• Engage with students in meaningful and productive ways that support learning and create a positive experience.
• Develop and implement active classroom teaching strategies that engage students in learning.
• Monitor and document student performance throughout the semester, including through technology-based academic advising alerts.
• Provide appropriate interventions, including communicating with students, arranging tutoring and other academic supports, and referring students to college resources.
• Interact professionally and cooperatively with students and co-workers, and comply with College policies, campus guidelines, and expectations.
• Maintain a safe, quality online educational environment.
• Promote an environment that respects and values the diverse backgrounds of students and employees.
• Conduct activities in accordance with FERPA, applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
• Conduct activities with appreciation, respect, and promotion of diversity of people, styles, and views.
• Perform other duties logically associated with the position as assigned.
