About The Position

Colorado Mountain College is building one of the region’s first comprehensive interpreter workforce pipelines, integrating certification-aligned curriculum, real-world practicum, ethical AI training, and strong employer partnerships. We are seeking nationally certified, experienced interpreters to serve as core instructors for our accelerated 120-hour, 13-week interpreter training program, launching across several campuses as part of a statewide effort to expand language access in rural mountain communities. An equivalent/applicable combination of education and/or experience to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position required with teaching in continuing education or community education. Non-credit Community Education compensation is based on Pay Levels ranging from 1-5. A new faculty’s Pay Level is determined by the campus supervisor and ranges $20-$60 per hour. Requirements

  • National or state interpreter certification: CCHI, NBCMI, OLA/NCSC, NAJIT, or another recognized equivalent.
  • 3–5+ years professional interpreting experience in healthcare, courts, education, or community settings.
  • Proven experience teaching, training, or mentoring adults.
  • Expertise in at least one specialization track Medical interpreting Court/legal interpreting Community/educational interpreting
  • Strong knowledge of interpreter ethics, Title VI, ADA, and language access policy.
  • Ability and willingness to travel in-region (Dillon, Edwards, Leadville, Rifle, Glenwood Springs).
  • Bilingual proficiency at professional interpreter level (Spanish–English strongly preferred).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching responsibilities expected of all faculty include teaching course load as assigned.
  • To teach classes as assigned by designated supervisor.
  • To prepare appropriate lesson plans for each course in accordance with approved course outcomes.
  • To develop a relationship with students & staff that is professional and encourages teacher/student communication.
  • To assist in the recruitment of students, as appropriate.
  • When agreed upon, and as appropriate, to assist in the evaluation of curriculum and instructional performance.
  • To represent the college in a professional manner throughout the communities and college district by promoting a positive public image.
  • To complete all required annual CMC training courses. Ex. Title IX, Digital Accessibility, and Data Security and Privacy.
  • Other duties as assigned.
