About The Position

The University of Southern Mississippi is currently accepting applications for the position of Adjunct Faculty in Art. This position instructs in areas in the Art and Design program, including but not limited to design, painting, drawing, history, graphic design, sculpture, and Art Appreciation. Courses needing adjunct instruction vary from semester to semester, and assignments are determined based on the expertise of applicants. Applications for this position will be accepted on an ongoing basis and will be reviewed as needed.

Requirements

• MFA in Art or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Knowledge of the history of art and of the influence of art on culture (for Art Appreciation courses) and/or of studio practices (for studio courses).
• Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in teaching in higher education.
• Experience teaching in an online platform.

Responsibilities

• Instruction of assigned classes.
• Provide interim and final grades for enrolled students.
• Provide data for General Education Curriculum assessment based on student achievement in the course as needed.
• Be available to students through office hours (face to face or virtual).
• Be responsive to students and director/staff via USM email.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
