About The Position

The College of Arts, Media and Design at Northeastern University seeks adjunct faculty to teach in-person undergraduate Art + Design courses at the Oakland campus in Oakland, California, during the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Adjunct faculty will hold office hours as appropriate.

The ideal candidate has an MFA or equivalent terminal degree and at least two years of successful college teaching experience. Art, media arts, and design candidates should have active careers demonstrated by current exhibitions, publications, or creative practice, along with course-related experience. Candidates must be able to effectively engage Northeastern students at course-relevant beginning, intermediate, or advanced levels of study.

Northeastern University will not provide employment visa sponsorship. The successful applicant must maintain valid U.S. work authorization throughout the appointment without university visa sponsorship. The per-credit rate starts at $2,484.48.

Requirements

• MFA or equivalent terminal degree.
• At least two years of successful college teaching experience.
• Ability to effectively engage Northeastern students at course-relevant beginning, intermediate, or advanced levels of study.
• Ability to maintain valid work authorization in the United States throughout the appointment without Northeastern University visa sponsorship.
