About The Position

Hatalom is seeking qualified Adjunct Faculty to support the Marine Corps University (MCU) College of Distance Education and Training (CDET) Expeditionary Warfare School Distance Education Program (EWSDEP). The EWSDEP provides graduate-level Professional Military Education (PME) designed to develop warfighting leaders capable of serving effectively in increasingly complex operational environments. The program enhances students' understanding of warfighting, expeditionary operations, Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF) employment, and operational planning while strengthening critical thinking and decision-making skills. Adjunct Faculty work closely with Regional Chief Instructors (RCIs) to provide instruction, mentorship, and academic support to U.S. military personnel, Department of Defense civilians, and interagency personnel enrolled in EWSDEP seminars. Faculty are responsible for facilitating discussions, grading seminar contributions and written assignments, mentoring students, and fostering critical thinking through discussion-based learning. The EWSDEP is designed to be completed over a two-year period and consists of four courses delivered in resident, synchronous online, and asynchronous online formats. This position is contingent upon contract award.

Requirements

  • U.S. Marine Corps Field Grade Officer (Major or above) or selectee for promotion to Major.
  • Graduate of the U.S. Marine Corps Expeditionary Warfare School (resident, distance education, or blended seminar program).
  • Graduate of Career Level School (CLS), Intermediate Level School (ILS), Staff Academy Workshop (SAW), Tactical Level School (TLS), or equivalent Professional Military Education program.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Experience serving as a Commanding Officer, Executive Officer, Operations Officer, or Primary Staff Officer at the battalion, squadron, or higher level.
  • Teaching or instructional experience, preferably utilizing Socratic teaching methods.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Active Secret clearance (Tier 3 Investigation).
  • Ability to maintain eligibility for continued access to Government facilities and systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree from an accredited institution with emphasis in Military History, American History, European History, Diplomatic History, Strategic Studies, International Relations, National Security Studies, or a related field.
  • Graduate of the U.S. Marine Corps Command and Staff College (resident, distance education, or blended seminar program) or other Intermediate Level School.
  • Operational planning experience within Marine Corps or Joint organizations.
  • Experience with onsite, synchronous online, and asynchronous online instruction.
  • Experience utilizing Learning Management Systems (LMS) or Learning Support Systems (LSS), such as Moodle.
  • Prior experience supporting Professional Military Education (PME) programs.
  • Experience mentoring military officers or adult learners.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with Regional Chief Instructors to deliver instruction using approved CDET curricula, faculty guides, and Learning Support System (LSS) resources.
  • Conduct Socratic-style seminars in classroom, synchronous online, and asynchronous online learning environments.
  • Lead seminar cohorts and facilitate professional discussions that encourage critical thinking and intellectual development.
  • Mentor students and provide academic and professional guidance throughout the program.
  • Grade student papers, essays, planning products, seminar contributions, and other course requirements using approved CDET grading rubrics.
  • Provide remediation and additional instruction to students who fail examinations or require additional academic support.
  • Enforce CDET academic integrity standards and ensure compliance with testing security requirements.
  • Support student enrollment within Learning Support Systems (LSS) and provide basic student assistance related to course access and participation.
  • Maintain accurate grading records, course documentation, and student performance data.
  • Complete faculty End-of-Course (EOC) surveys and encourage student participation in course assessments.
  • Participate in annual faculty development activities as directed by the Regional Director.
  • Attend the annual CDET Faculty Workshop in Quantico, Virginia, typically held during the summer months.
  • Successfully complete required Faculty Orientation and ongoing CDET faculty certification requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Marine Corps University academic standards and contractual requirements.
