About The Position

The Education Department at Keene State College is seeking qualified applicants for an adjunct faculty position in Elementary Education for the 2026-27 academic year. This is a part-time benefited position. The role involves teaching foundational courses in the program, specifically EDUC 321 Elementary Methods: Literacy and Social Studies. This course integrates theoretical and practical approaches to literacy and social studies instruction in grades K-6, focusing on curriculum development, lesson planning, cross-curricular integration, structured literacy instruction and assessment, children's literature, pedagogical practices, and arts integration through extended clinical experiences. The department is committed to enhancing its curriculum to better prepare future educators for diverse classrooms, utilizing assessments, field feedback, and collective expertise. Keene State College's educator preparation programs hold CAEP accreditation. Requirements

  • Earned master’s degree in education or related field by August 1, 2026.
  • Minimum of five years full-time teaching experience in public schools at the elementary level (K-6).
  • Availability to teach in-person, during the day (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 8am-12pm).

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in literacy content and pedagogy.
  • Experience teaching in an inclusive environment with diverse student populations (examples: SES, students with IEPs and 504 plans, ELL, cultural, and racial/ethnic).
  • College teaching experience.
  • Supervision experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach EDUC 321 Elementary Methods: Literacy and Social Studies.
  • Integrate theoretical and practical approaches to literacy and social studies instruction in grades K-6.
