About The Position

Lesley University's department of Humanities and Social Sciences is seeking a highly qualified adjunct faculty member to teach CLANG 1101 - Spanish I for the Fall Semester 2026. This introductory course is designed for students with little or no prior knowledge of Spanish and aims to develop foundational skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The course also fosters an understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures and communities, with a particular emphasis on the Spanish-speaking communities of New England, especially Massachusetts, and on building meaningful community engagement. Students will create portfolios in Spanish that connect language learning to their academic and professional interests, demonstrating their developing language skills, understanding of future professions, and appreciation for community engagement in diverse settings. Instruction is primarily in Spanish, with English used as needed for clarity.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Spanish, Hispanic Studies, or a closely related field.
  • Experience teaching Spanish at the undergraduate level.
  • Ability to integrate cultural competence and community engagement into language instruction.
  • Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish.
  • Professional proficiency in English.
  • Demonstrated commitment to communicative, student-centered, inclusive, and equitable language teaching practices.
  • Experience using learning management systems and instructional technology.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • PhD or terminal degree.
  • Experience with the Spanish-speaking communities of New England, especially Massachusetts.
  • Experience building meaningful community engagement.
