DrexelPhiladelphia, PA

About The Position

The Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design at Drexel University trains the next generation of scholars, thinkers, makers, and doers in media, entertainment, design, and the visual and performing arts. Westphal offers 18 undergraduate and nine graduate majors, encouraging collaboration across creative disciplines and focusing on sustainability, access, and equity. The Game Design & Production major is nationally ranked and provides students with a strong foundation in digital design and content creation skills in a team project environment, preparing them for careers in various industries including entertainment, simulation, training, marketing, communications, and education. Students gain broad familiarity with multiple areas and develop one or two specialties, creating game assets and games from their first terms. The program evolves with industry trends and utilizes on-demand special topic courses, emphasizing tool-agnostic creation and the ability to transfer skills between industry-standard tools. The adjunct faculty member will foster student artistic development, learning, and discussions, encourage active learning, maintain records, evaluate student work, and provide feedback. Responsibilities may include teaching days, evenings, or nights, with potential for online, in-person, or hybrid formats. Adjunct positions can cover foundation, core skill, advanced, or special topics courses. The program primarily uses Unity, Maya, and the Adobe CC suite (including Substance), with Unreal and other tools also common. Some courses allow tool flexibility for student projects, while others can adapt to instructor preference. Teaching is primarily face-to-face at Drexel’s Philadelphia campus, with potential for remote teaching within the US for qualified candidates. Drexel’s Game Design & Production is particularly interested in candidates with experience in diversity, equity, and inclusivity efforts and diverse professional experiences.
