About The Position

The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) is seeking dynamic, motivated, and diverse candidates for part-time faculty positions as Computer Information Systems Instructors for the 2027 Academic School Year. This posting is to create a pool of qualified applicants for potential openings across LACCD's nine colleges. Successful candidates will collaborate, communicate, and work professionally with students, staff, faculty, and administrators, demonstrating a commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student population. Applicants can indicate their college preferences during the application process. Interviews may be offered by Computer Science Departments at one or more LACCD colleges. Final assignment is contingent upon enrollment, funding, and class availability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment.
  • OR Associate's degree and six years of professional experience directly related to the teaching assignment.
  • A sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
  • Vocational positions require experience verification on letterhead stationery, showing inclusive dates of assignments, stating if full-time or part-time, and indicating duties. If part-time, the number of paid hours worked per week, semester or year must be included.
  • COVID 19 VACCINATION: Fully vaccinated by November 3, 2021, or have an approved exemption. Employees are required to provide their vaccination status.

  • Demonstrated certification in Blackboard, Canvas, or Course Compass or other online modalities may be given preference.

Responsibilities

  • Teach any of the Computer Information Systems courses offered.
  • Promote engaging and inclusive educational environments that support student learning.
  • Be culturally responsive in interactions with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
  • Conduct classes in a virtual learning environment using Canvas or other methods of remote learning, and alternative work settings, if required.

Benefits

  • Salary schedule for adjunct instructors begins at $86.85 per standard hour.
  • Office hour differential of $20.32 per hour for classroom assignments.
  • Applicants with a doctoral degree are eligible for a doctoral differential.
