About The Position
The Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) is seeking dynamic, motivated, and diverse candidates for part-time faculty positions to engage and educate students. Successful candidates will collaborate, communicate, and work as professionals with students, staff, faculty, and administrators. Applicants with a demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student population are strongly encouraged to apply. Qualified applicants may be offered an interview with Health/Kinesiology Departmental members at one or more of LACCD’s 9 colleges. Final determination of part-time Mathematics Instructor assignment is contingent upon enrollment, funding, and class availability.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in health science, health education, biology, nursing, physical education, kinesiology, exercise science, dietetics, nutrition or public health; OR Bachelor’s degree in any of the above; AND Master’s in any of the biological sciences; OR the equivalent.
- A sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
- A medical certificate indicating fitness to instruct or associate with students is required at the applicant's expense after selection from an eligible list and prior to employment.
- Provide vaccination status in compliance with the LACCD Board of Trustees’ policy.

- Demonstrated certification in Blackboard, Canvas or Course Compass or other online modalities may be given preference.
Responsibilities
- Teach any of the Health courses offered, promoting engaging and inclusive educational environments that support student learning.
- Be culturally responsive in interactions with students, faculty, staff, and community members who span a diverse range of languages, nationalities and ethnicities, socio-economic levels, ages, identities, abilities and educational experiences.
- Conduct classes in a virtual learning environment using Canvas or other methods of remote learning, if required.
Benefits
- Salary begins at $89.72 per standard hour.
- Office hour differential of $20.99 per hour for classroom assignments.
- Applicants with a doctoral degree are eligible for a doctoral differential.
