About The Position

Klamath Community College is seeking a dynamic and creative Adjunct Instructor to teach studio art classes in-person and/or asynchronous online. This position is responsible for delivering engaging instruction in foundational techniques, materials, and concepts. This is a part-time, term-by-term position reporting to the Dean of Instruction.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Fine Arts, OR Master’s degree in a closely related field and 20 quarter hours of graduate credit in Art; or a Bachelor’s degree in Art, OR Hold a bachelor’s degree in the subject area (or hold a bachelor=s degree in a related area and have completed at least 20 quarter hours of upper division credit in the subject area) and have a minimum of four years of recent full-time non-teaching experience in the subject area, OR Hold a master’s degree in Education or MAT degree and have completed at least 20 quarter hours of graduate credit in the subject area.
  • Proficiency in general office skills.
  • Possess knowledge of a wide range of teaching and learning theory.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach students from diverse backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching experience in mixed instructional modalities including online, hybrid, Hyflex and face-to-face.
  • Previous college teaching experience, preferably in a community college.
  • Experience using Canvas or other Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Experience with Canvas LMS preferred.
  • Bilingual Spanish-English

Responsibilities

  • Teach drawing, design, painting, sculpture, and/or other art courses in accordance with Course Content and Outcome Guides using appropriate instructional methodologies (e.g., studio practice, group critique, online tools).
  • Design and deliver supplemental materials to support a range of learning styles and abilities.
  • Foster a studio environment that encourages experimentation, critical thinking, and artistic growth.
  • Stay current in the field of visual arts through professional development and practice.
  • Participate in student assessment and adapt teaching strategies based on feedback and evaluation.
  • Maintain accurate records, create course syllabi, and grade according to college policies.
  • Communicate effectively with students and colleagues using strong written and oral English skills.
