About The Position

Applied Materials’ Additive Manufacturing Team is seeking an intern for Summer 2027 in Gloucester, Massachusetts. The team develops and tests components and processes to further Applied Materials’ position in the semiconductor industry. The intern will work with engineers on measurement and analysis related to additive manufacturing design, develop a graphical user interface to control a test stand, and design and order test-stand fixtures as needed. The intern may also write data-collection procedures or test plans, complete a research project to expand best-known methods, publish articles on the company’s internal Applied Wiki, meet weekly with a supervisor to review assigned project status, and assist with other team projects and activities. The internship is scheduled to run from May 24 through August 13, 2027.

Requirements

Be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Be in good academic standing at the university.
Be a quick learner.

Nice To Haves

GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.
Experience with CAD software; Creo is preferred.
Experience with additive manufacturing.
Experience in semiconductor processing or manufacturing.

Responsibilities

Support measurement and analysis efforts associated with additive manufacturing design in collaboration with other engineers.
Develop a graphical user interface (GUI) to control a test stand.
Design and order fixtures for the test stand as needed.
Write procedures or test plans for data collection as needed.
Complete a research project that expands best-known methods.
Publish articles on Applied Wiki, the company’s internal online encyclopedia.
