About The Position

Applied Materials’ Additive Manufacturing Team is seeking an intern for Summer 2027. The team develops and tests components and processes that support Applied Materials’ position in the semiconductor industry. The intern will work with engineers on measurement and analysis related to additive manufacturing design, develop a GUI to control a test stand, design and order test-stand fixtures as needed, and prepare procedures or test plans for data collection. The intern will also complete a research project to expand best known methods and publish articles on the internal Applied Wiki. Weekly meetings with a supervisor will review project status. The intern may also assist with other team projects, tasks, and activities. The internship runs from May 24 through August 13, 2027, and is based in Gloucester, Massachusetts. The position is full-time and requires 10% travel. Relocation is eligible. Compensation is $31–$41 per hour.

Requirements

Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Be in good academic standing at the university.
Be a quick learner.

Nice To Haves

GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.
Experience with CAD software; Creo is preferred.
Experience with additive manufacturing.
Experience in semiconductor processing or manufacturing.

Responsibilities

Support measurement and analysis efforts associated with additive manufacturing design while working with other engineers.
Develop a GUI to control a test stand.
Design and order fixtures for the test stand as needed.
Write procedures or test plans for data collection as needed.
Complete a research project that expands best known methods.
Publish articles on Applied Wiki, the internal online encyclopedia.
