About The Position

The Institute for Justice (IJ) seeks a passionate individual to join its Activism team as an Operations and Events Manager at its headquarters in Arlington, VA. This internal role is crucial for ensuring the Activism team operates at a high level, maintaining organization and efficiency for maximum effectiveness. The successful candidate will partner closely with the Senior Director of Activism, taking ownership of internal systems, problem-solving, executing high-impact projects, and supporting the team's overall success. IJ's Activism team focuses on challenging and reforming local and state policies in economic liberty, access to justice, property rights, and government accountability through strategic advocacy, community engagement, and various outreach methods. This role is ideal for someone who actively seeks challenges, develops creative solutions, improves systems, and takes pride in enhancing team operations, all while maintaining attention to detail and a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Managing the internal organization of the team, including tracking activities and achievements, maintaining records, managing editing, production, and distribution processes for publications, asset and file management, and maintaining an inventory of storage space.
  • Organizing team meetings and trainings.
  • Maintaining and creating best practices and how-to guides.
  • Maximizing the team’s travel nationwide.
  • Seeking out tools to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Serving as liaison with IJ’s Development and Finance teams.
  • Planning events, including handling all logistics such as venues, invitations, RSVPs, attendee lead cultivation, programming, food, decorations, and ordering materials.
  • Ensuring events are cost-effective and impactful.
  • Auditing events and refining best practices to improve cost-effectiveness and programming.
  • Developing partnerships with community venues.
  • Serving as a key partner to the Senior Director of Activism by executing as-needed tasks and projects in support of evolving team priorities.
