About The Position

College Tutors is expanding its team of in-person tutors and seeks tutors for high school subjects and ACT/SAT preparation. The role is suited to academically successful candidates who can explain complex concepts and help high school and college-bound students build knowledge and prepare for college. Tutors provide personalized instruction, support academic performance, assess student progress, and help students set exam-preparation goals. The role offers flexible scheduling and may involve tutoring students in person or virtually, as indicated in the title. Employment is contingent on successfully completing a background screening.

Requirements

Track record of academic success and expertise in specific subjects.
ACT score of at least 30.
Proficiency in high school math and science, including calculus, biology, and chemistry.
Strong organizational skills and motivation to teach in a personalized and effective manner.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to connect and communicate effectively with students.
Availability during afternoon and evening hours.

Responsibilities

Tutor students in high school subjects and prepare them for the ACT/SAT.
Teach study strategies, note-taking skills, and test-taking approaches.
Administer practice tests to assess progress, identify areas for improvement, and establish exam-preparation goals.
Diagnose student needs through active listening and effective questioning.
Serve as a positive role model for high school and college-bound students.
