ACE Hardware Delivery Driver
About The Position
The ACE Hardware Delivery Driver safely and promptly delivers customer purchases, which may include lumber, appliances, furniture, grills, power equipment, and rental equipment. The driver also picks up rental equipment and customer-owned items for repair, then returns repaired items. The role involves operating a company vehicle and trailer, handling and demonstrating rental equipment, planning efficient routes, documenting deliveries and pickups, and providing professional, courteous customer service. Candidates must pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check. The role has no supervisory responsibilities. Position requirements may vary by store location, and management may add or change requirements.
Requirements
- Pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check.
- Hold a valid driver’s license with a clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Be insurable under the company’s vehicle insurance.
- Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Write routine reports and correspondence.
- Present information and respond to questions from customers or associates.
- Apply basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
- Meet the physical demands described in the posting, including lifting and moving items weighing up to 100 pounds at times.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Some rental equipment knowledge.
- Reliable, friendly, and customer-focused, with strong people and organizational skills and quick reaction and response time.
- Mechanically inclined and safety-minded, with a commitment to excellent service.
Responsibilities
- Operate a company vehicle to deliver and pick up rental equipment at customer locations.
- Pick up customer equipment for repair and return it when repairs are complete.
- Safely drive and maneuver a truck with a trailer in urban and rural areas as needed.
- Operate rental equipment, such as mowers, small loaders, and tillers, for loading, unloading, and demonstrations.
- Plan delivery routes and follow GPS directions to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
- Maintain a clean driving record and comply with safety and traffic regulations.
- Accurately document deliveries and pickups.
- Provide friendly, helpful customer service while representing the ACE Hardware brand professionally and courteously.
- Follow store and department policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
