About The Position

The Ace Hardware Cashier scans customers’ selections, verifies prices and quantities, accepts payment, issues receipts, answers inquiries, and provides helpful information about products, promotions, and item locations. The role may also include some stocking. Cashiers respond to complaints with genuine concern and assist the Store Director in creating a positive atmosphere for customers and a positive working environment for associates while working safely.

The position focuses on superior guest service, accurate and efficient order processing, proper handling of tenders and coupons, and keeping the workstation clean, organized, and stocked. There are no required education, experience, certifications, licenses, or registrations. The position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

• Customer service skills and genuine honesty and integrity.
• Money-handling skills and ability to multitask.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively before groups of customers and associates.
• Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
• Ability to meet the physical demands described in the posting, including standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, communicating, and lifting or moving items.

Responsibilities

• Deliver superior guest service and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Learn and use the GUEST program to greet customers sincerely, engage them in conversation, show respect for their purchases, and thank them.
• Maintain customer satisfaction by providing solutions to concerns.
• Scan products and process customer orders accurately, efficiently, and promptly.
• Handle all forms of tender and coupons properly.
• Package customer purchases in an organized fashion.
• Keep the workstation and surrounding area clean, organized, and well stocked.
• Perform fixed activities as assigned by a supervisor.
• Follow store and department policies and procedures, including safety policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor.
