About The Position

The Accounts Receivable/Payable Specialist will be primarily responsible for monthly billing, in addition to assisting with the accounts payable process and other duties. This role involves working with people experiencing homelessness, which may present challenges such as exposure to infestations, unpleasant odors, individuals with poor hygiene, mental health symptoms, or poverty. Employees may also encounter profanity, sexually explicit or derogatory language, or expressions of anger and trauma. Staff receive training to deescalate crisis situations, and procedural safeguards are in place to mitigate these risks.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of accounts receivable and payable experience.
  • Good typing and data entry skills.
  • Microsoft Office Suite knowledge.
  • Good organization skills.
  • Adequate verbal and written communication skills.
  • A candidate should be a quick learner, with a strong ability to adapt to change.
  • Keyboard data entry required.

Nice To Haves

  • Intacct or similar enterprise level accounting software a plus.
  • Previous non-profit history is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and process monthly program service grant and contract billings processes to ensure optimal revenue cycle.
  • Completing and tracking program member reimbursement claims.
  • Verify payment summary vouchers (PSVs) for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Analyze denied claims, investigate discrepancies, and liaise with necessary parties to secure maximum reimbursement.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation of submitted claims, payments, denials, and follow-up activities.
  • Reconcile incoming daily cash receipts and maintain the corporate cash ledger.
  • Formulate and distribute complex Accounts Receivable program invoices under strict deadlines.
  • Aggregate and audit source documentation, including benefits records, check copies, and timesheets.
  • Support Accounts Payable closing activities by identifying accrued liabilities and ensuring proper period matching.
  • Deliver critical documentation and analytical support for internal, external, and funder audits.
