About The Position

The Sheet Metal Workers' Employee Benefit Funds Office is looking for a dependable Accounts Payable Clerk to join their team. This role is essential in supporting the financial operations that directly benefit members and their families. As the Accounts Payable Clerk, you will manage high-volume invoice processing across multiple benefit plans, ensure every transaction is properly documented and coded, and work closely with both vendors and internal team members to resolve discrepancies and maintain clean, audit-ready records.

Requirements

• 2+ years of accounts payable or general accounting experience preferred
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• High integrity and the ability to handle sensitive, confidential information with discretion

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a benefits office, union environment, or multi-entity accounting is a plus
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy

Responsibilities

• Process high-volume invoices accurately and on time
• Review and verify invoices for proper documentation, approvals, and coding
• Enter invoices into the accounting system with correct fund allocation
• Prepare and execute weekly check runs and electronic payments
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
• Maintain organized, compliant accounts payable records
• Communicate with vendors and staff regarding payment status and inquiries
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes
• Assist with audits by providing requested documentation and reports
• Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements
