About The Position

MorningStar Mission is seeking a part-time Accounts Payable Associate to join their Accounting and Finance team in Joliet, Illinois. This role is essential for ensuring accurate financial records, timely payments, and strong stewardship of resources. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, experienced in account reconciliation, and knowledgeable in QuickBooks. This position offers an opportunity to use financial and administrative skills to support a mission that brings hope, healing, and lasting change.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years’ accounting related experience is required, preferably in non-profit.
  • A high school diploma at a minimum.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, QuickBooks, and the ability to learn additional accounting software systems.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work independently and a commitment to serving others.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates or Bachelors in a related field preferred
  • Experience with QuickBooks.

Responsibilities

  • Review, process, and enter invoices and purchase orders into the accounting system, ensuring proper documentation, coding, and approvals.
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations and maintain accurate accounts payable records, reports, and vendor files.
  • Prepare, print, and distribute payments/checks in accordance with established procedures and approvals.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support the Director of Finance with annual audits, year-end reporting requirements, and other assigned accounting duties while upholding the Christian values and mission of MorningStar Mission.
