About The Position

This position is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payment request documents after determining that they are in compliance with the terms and conditions of contracts, purchase orders, department policies and procedures. This position serves as the Accounting Services Division (ASD) contact for the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) procurement card (PCard) payments and assists with data entry of Vehicle Usage Reports into the Vehicle Travel System (VTS)/M5 system. The "Salary" listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate at the entry (7) level through the maximum rate at the experienced (E9) level. Based on education and experience, candidates will be reviewed to determine what level they are qualified for.

Requirements

  • Completion of high school.
  • One year of experience involving posting to ledger accounts, reconciling accounts, executing adjustments, and preparing financial statements equivalent to an Accounting Assistant E7 (for Accounting Technician 7).
  • Two years of experience involving posting to ledger accounts, reconciling accounts, executing adjustments, and preparing financial statements, including one year equivalent to an Accounting Technician 7 or an Accounting Assistant 8 (for Accounting Technician 8).
  • Three years of experience involving posting to ledger accounts, reconciling accounts, executing adjustments, and preparing financial statements, including one year equivalent to an Accounting Technician 8, two years equivalent to an Accounting Technician 7, or one year equivalent to an Office Supervisor with a subclass code of BKPS (for Accounting Technician E9).
  • Attach a detailed cover letter and resume.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and physical (if applicable).
  • Criminal and driving records will also be checked if applicable.
  • Use of artificial intelligence (AI) software of any kind is prohibited in all areas of the selection process.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) with at least 16 semester (24 term) credits in accounting courses may be substituted for the experience requirement (for Accounting Technician 7).
  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree with at least 16 semester (24 term) credits in accounting courses may be substituted for the experience requirement (for Accounting Technician 8).
  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree with at least 16 semester (24 term) credits in accounting courses and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement (for Accounting Technician E9).
