About The Position

The Department of Family and Community Services, Office of Children's Services (OCS) is recruiting for a full-time Accounting Technician 2 located in Juneau, Alaska. This position provides essential services to Vendor & Provider Payments and other units by processing medical, childcare, special needs, and Independent Living invoices. Responsibilities include performing vendor account reconciliation, cross-certification of Accounting Technician work, and managing workflow within the Online Resource for the Children of Alaska (ORCA) system. The role involves resolving payment inquiries and supporting field staff to ensure fiscal transactions comply with state and federal regulatory standards. Requirements

  • One year of clerical work experience maintaining records that included using computer systems and performing basic arithmetic calculations.
  • Successful completion of a formal vocational education program in accounting or bookkeeping will substitute for the required experience.
  • Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month).
  • Valid ID.
  • Successful completion of a background investigation, including fingerprinting and a criminal records check.
  • Applicant is requested to submit a copy of academic transcripts (unofficial are acceptable but must include the institution name/URL on documents provided) if required to meet minimum qualifications.
  • Applicant is requested to submit a list of three (3) professional references including daytime telephone numbers and email address; at least two (2) of these must be from a current or former supervisor.
  • Must fill in the Education section of the application.
  • If not obtained a degree, indicate the number of units completed.
  • Copies of transcripts are required to verify educational credentials being used to meet the minimum qualifications for a position and are required with each application.
  • If utilizing foreign education, show that the education credentials have been submitted to a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and that such education has been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs; or an accredited U.S. state university reports the other institution as one whose transcript is given full value, or full value is given in subject areas applicable to the curricula at the state university.
