About The Position

The Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) is seeking an Accounting Specialist to join the Securities Division's Enforcement Group. This role is crucial in managing the division's payment program, which involves accounting for, reconciling, and reporting payments received. The specialist will process fund distributions to victim investors or the state general fund, coordinate with enforcement case teams on financial matters, assist in locating victims, and serve as the primary contact for public inquiries regarding fund receipt and distribution. The ACC is a unique state agency with a diverse mission and a long average employee tenure.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of accounts receivable/payable or similar functions.
  • Knowledge of accounting software and Microsoft office.
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping/financial record keeping procedures.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Moderate skills in QuickBooks.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively present financial information.
  • Ability to communicate with the public.
  • Ability to enter large volumes of financial data accurately and efficiently.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage various competing projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to multitask as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in regulatory or legal environment.
  • Prior customer service experience.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibility for Restitution, Penalty, and Investor Distribution Functions, including maintaining financial records, reconciling accounts, updating databases, preparing distribution requests, reporting to management, initiating distributions to victims, initiating transfers between accounts, and preparing legal documents with guidance.
  • Communication with other parties, including responding to inquiries from respondents and victim investors, locating contact information of victim investors, coordinating with process counterparts, providing guidance regarding the collections process to other staff, and discussing issues with case teams.
  • Assist Enforcement Cases by reviewing and preparing preliminary reports of enforcement case financial information and preparing financial data for upload to case financial databases.
  • Additional activities as required by the Director of Securities and/or the Assistant Director of Securities.
