About The Position

Rocket Travel by Agoda is looking for an Accounting Manager to join our growing accounting team. In this role, you’ll work closely with our team to oversee general accounting duties related to month-end close, AP/AR processing, treasury function, and other ad-hoc requests. This is a Chicago-based contract position slated for a minimum of 9 months (with possible extension). Requirements

  • Relevant accounting experience at a minimum of 5-8 years
  • A business-related degree with a preference for Accounting; CPA is required
  • Strong knowledge of Excel and SQL
  • Familiarity with Oracle and Salesforce systems
  • Positive attitude and willingness to work and communicate on a small team
  • Overall well-roundedness and attention to detail in order to pick up duties quickly with accuracy
  • Analytic approach to problem solving and can make data-driven recommendations for improvement
  • Authorized to accept employment in the US from any employer
  • Willing to start within three weeks of accepting an offer
  • Able to work a hybrid work schedule with 2-3 days per week in our Chicago office.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the monthly and year-end close process. This individual will oversee closing entries and review the close task list in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Perform high-level review of B/S and P/L accounts with the Controller to ensure financial statement completeness and accuracy
  • Manage monthly account reconciliation process for B/S accounts and corresponding journal entries
  • Assist our Risk & Controls Manager in implementing our SOX Readiness plan and documenting procedures accordingly.
  • Help with our Salesforce Optimization project by implementing best practices and metrics for the team
  • Review and approve journal entries by team members to ensure that items are accurately recorded and correct in the final financial statement impact
  • Oversee timely processing and reconciliation of invoices. This individual will oversee the AP functions and ensure timely processing of payments.
  • Support Treasury activities. This individual will review wire/ACH payments, review wire templates, and oversee weekly cash reconciliations.
  • Review A/R invoices and account statements. This individual will review AR balances and Agings and ensure that our Credit & Collections policy is adhered to.
  • Monitor employee expenses. This individual will work to ensure compliance with the company expense policy and approve expenses for timely reimbursement to employees.
  • Manage accounting staff team members and help to further their development in both accounting and career trajectory
  • Take ownership and make a difference. We’re a smaller team and often wear many hats. Some projects may not be completely defined. This individual will take a resourceful approach to what’s needed and drive results.

Benefits

  • Hourly amount for the Chicago area is $57.21 per hour (40 hours per week).
