About The Position

Dow Rummel Village is hiring a full-time, salaried Accounting Manager for its non-profit Senior Life Plan Community in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Accounting Manager oversees accounting operations across the organization’s care and service lines, including accounts payable, resident accounts receivable and billing. The role also manages accounting staff, supports budgeting and financial analysis, coordinates annual audit activities, and ensures required tax, cost-report, and government reporting is accurate and compliant. The position is scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The stated pay range is $84,500–$100,850. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field, relevant accounting experience, supervisory experience, strong communication and analytical skills, and the ability to manage priorities in an interrupted environment. CPA certification and experience in senior care are preferred.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
Two to three years of experience in senior care or a related industry.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
At least three years of experience in an official supervisory role, with two or more direct reports.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Familiarity with relevant accounting software and systems.
Ability to adapt in an interrupted environment.
Detail-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
Strong leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and inspire a team.

Nice To Haves

CPA certification is strongly preferred.
Senior care facility experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable, including resident billing, to ensure accurate and timely financial transactions.
Manage billing for Skilled Nursing, Assisted Living, Independent Living, Home Health, Rentals, Restaurants/Catering, Wellness, Shoppe, and Beauty Salon.
Perform general accounting duties, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
Supervise and manage accounting staff by providing guidance and support and conducting performance reviews.
Collaborate with other departments to support smooth financial operations and accurate reporting.
Assist with preparing and monitoring the budget, ensuring accuracy and adherence to financial goals.
Prepare and modify accounting reports and provide analysis and recommendations.
Coordinate information and serve as the point person for the annual audit.
Coordinate preparation of cost reports and tax returns in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Oversee the accuracy of IRS, Medicare, Medicaid, and other government-required reporting.
Identify and implement practices and procedures to improve efficiency in the accounting department and organization.
