About The Position

MOSAIC is seeking an experienced, assertive, and solutions-focused Accounting Manager with a thorough understanding of accounting principles and excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills. This role will manage day-to-day accounts functions, bank reconciliation, and work closely with managers in the development of budgets and financial reporting for new and existing programs. The Accounting Manager for Accounts Receivable supervises accounting personnel and other staff or volunteers as assigned, and is responsible for a variety of accounting functions. The position has organization-wide responsibilities and works closely with other managers, senior managers, and directors.

Requirements

  • Minimum five years of related accounting experience, including cash, receivables, payables, payroll, account reconciliations, budgeting, journal entries, and preparation of audit schedules
  • Formal training in a recognized accounting program or equivalent experience
  • Experience in accounting for programs and working with program management in a multi-department environment
  • Experience in meeting funder (or similar) requirements with respect to budgeting, reporting, and monitoring financial aspects of programs
  • Minimum three years supervisory experience
  • Proficient in relevant computer software, including: Sage (or similar) general ledger, bank, accounts receivable, accounts payable modules, and MS Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong interpersonal skills
  • Critical thinking and thoughtful questioning
  • Effective organizational abilities, attention to detail, sound judgment and initiative, ability to manage multiple priorities and tactful patient approach

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve accounts receivable and account payable transactions
  • Review, approve and assist with payroll processing and related regulatory filing
  • Reconcile bank accounts and prepare journal entries as appropriate
  • Perform regular account analysis and reconciliations
  • Develop program budget and cash flow with program management
  • Prepare reports and analyses for assigned programs for funders
  • Hire, train, supervise and support the accounting clerks
  • Review donation tax receipts and reconcile them to general ledger accounts
  • Identify and implement areas for process improvement and increased efficiencies
  • Assist with financial audits and year-end working papers
