About The Position

P2S is offering a summer accounting internship for students seeking practical experience in an engineering firm. Interns join the Accounting team and apply financial concepts from their coursework to real-world work, including month-end close activities, internal training, and company events. The program is designed to provide a positive work and training experience aligned with interns’ career goals and education levels, with tailored mentorship and opportunities to develop technical and collaborative skills. The internship lasts 10–12 weeks, starting in June and ending in August or September depending on the candidate’s availability. The position is in the office Monday through Friday in Long Beach, California. Hourly pay is $24.00 for undergraduate students and $26.00 for graduate students.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Efficient organizational and time-management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports.
Reconcile accounts, ledgers, and journal entries.
Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
Assist the accounts payable and accounts receivable departments with related activities to support timely payments and collections.
Analyze financial data and provide insights to leadership.
Support audits and help ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on process improvements and efficiency initiatives.
Participate in team meetings and assist accounting personnel with organizing and analyzing financial data.
Engage in training sessions and workshops to enhance technical skills.
