About The Position

Chicago Trading Company (CTC), a proprietary trading firm specializing in options market making, is seeking an Accounting Intern to contribute to the firm’s daily financial operations in a fast-paced environment. The intern will handle operational accounting tasks and complete internship-specific projects designed to connect their interests and career goals with Accounting team initiatives.

The internship is an eight-week program running from mid-June to early August 2027. Interns will work in a role modeled on that of a full-time Accountant and Finance team member, gain hands-on financial analysis experience and exposure to accounting systems, and participate in regular meetings with a manager. The program also offers mentorship from Finance leadership and opportunities to learn and network with other interns through educational and social activities.

Requirements

• Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Expected to graduate between December 2027 and August 2028.
• Demonstrated record of success in academics, awards, volunteering, community service, or similar activities.
• Available to participate for the full eight-week program from mid-June to early August 2027.
• Committed and curious, able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Enjoys solving complex problems.
• Able to communicate ideas effectively in writing and verbally.

Responsibilities

• Assist with posting and reconciling daily financial activity in the general ledger.
• Review daily cash activity and ensure transactions are accurately recorded.
• Participate in the month-end close process, including analysis of accruals, fixed assets, and prepaid transactions.
• Prepare variance analyses for specified CTC legal entities and/or P&L groups.
• Complete internship-specific projects lasting 2–6 weeks, defined at the start of the internship and aligned with intern interests and Accounting team initiatives.
