About The Position

CLA is hiring Accounting Consultants (Engagement Directors) for its Client Accounting and Advisory Services (CAAS) team. CAAS provides customized accounting support to clients, typically those with more than $50 million in size, on an interim and project basis. Engagement Directors serve as high-level interim or project-based accounting resources across industries, taking on roles such as Interim Controller, Financial Reporting Manager, or Internal Audit Manager. The position offers flexibility, variety, and the opportunity to select engagements, with travel opportunities depending on the consultant’s openness to travel. Engagement Directors take an active, hands-on approach to client work and have access to a full benefits package as hourly employees.

Requirements

At least 8 years of relevant work experience, including public accounting experience.
A bachelor’s degree is required, although a combination of relevant experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
Mastery of Microsoft Excel.
Experience with a variety of accounting software.

Nice To Haves

10 or more years of relevant work experience.
Prior industry experience equivalent to CFO, Controller, SEC Reporting Manager, or Internal Audit Manager.
Experience as a Big Four alum.
A degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
CPA certification.
Prior project management experience.
Exceptional client service management experience.

Responsibilities

Serve as a high-level interim or project-based accounting resource for clients in accounting, finance, tax, and audit roles.
Design and improve accounting processes, including monthly close, management and financial reporting, forecasting, consolidations, and system implementations.
Take an active, hands-on approach in executing client engagements.
