About The Position

As the Accounting Automation & Technology Intern, you will have the opportunity to combine finance technology, accounting, and financial operations on the Finance Innovation, Technology and Transformation (FITT) team. You will have the opportunity to design, develop, and deploy solutions using Alteryx, Microsoft Copilot, Power Platform, Power BI, GitHub/VSCode and other AI-enabled tools to improve productivity, documentation, analysis, controls, and process efficiency within Finance. In addition, you will support month-end activities, reporting, reconciliations, process documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives while partnering with finance, operations, and technology teams. This internship will also provide you with the opportunity to develop industry-related skills in a professional environment, build your network with Best Buy employees, and explore a wide range of career paths. This internship will be available from June to August 2027. This role is remote, which means you would work virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location. This internship has the potential to lead to a full-time opportunity. This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Requirements

  • Must be pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, graduating between fall 2027 and spring 2028
  • Must be able to work 40 hours a week Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00am-5pm (Central Time)
  • Must be able to commit to the internship start and end date of 5/31/2027- 8/6/2027
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Curiosity, independent initiative, adaptability, and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage Microsoft Copilot and other AI-enabled tools to streamline finance processes, improve reporting and documentation, and reduce manual work while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Explore, test, and refine AI prompts, automation solutions, and workflow improvements that increase team productivity and efficiency.
  • Support financial reporting, reconciliations, invoice analysis, month-end activities, and investigation of variances or processing issues.
  • Analyze financial data and partner with finance and business teams to identify opportunities to improve controls, processes, and overall financial operations.
  • Contribute to special projects focused on operational excellence, process improvement, change management, and sharing AI and efficiency best practices across finance teams.
