About The Position

The Accountant II position performs routine general accounting functions in the Accounting operation area with the central focus on general ledger reconcilements and entries, maintenance of subsidiary systems and ledgers and operational reporting.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting or degree with accounting coursework and 2 years’ operational experience.
  • OR 7 years accounting experience, 2 years with financial institutions experience.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong oral and written skills with ability to prepare and present financial information
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work well in teams
  • Ability to adapt to change and foster growth that results from change
  • Ability to assess processes with minimal documented procedures

Nice To Haves

  • CPA candidate preferred
  • Accounting for financial institutions preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and reviews reconcilements to assist in the operational accounting process.
  • Prepares and reviews general ledger entries in accordance with bank procedures and GAAP.
  • Performs monthly closing tasks to ensure completeness of the accounting process and accurate record keeping.
  • Reviews accounting processes for operational efficiencies and develops enhancements/process improvements.
  • Performs daily clearing of the GL unposted account and communication with bank departments regarding entry process.
  • Prepares Federal and State back-up withholding and annual tax filing.
  • Completes Federal Reserve and cash provider account reconcilements on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for fixed asset accounting including maintaining fixed asset system, posting depreciation, and reconciling general ledger accounts.
  • Completes analytical review of various general ledger accounts for the Bank and entire financials for smaller entities.
  • Prepares monthly accruals to accurately reflect income and expense according to basic accounting principles.
  • Actively participates in enterprise projects that impact the operational accounting process. This includes designing and documenting new process and procedures to support such projects.
