About The Position

The Accounts Receivable Office at Iowa State University is seeking candidates for an Accountant II position. This role will support a broad range of Accounts Receivable accounting, reporting, training, and project work. A successful candidate will understand fiscal controls and accounting systems and be comfortable working through complex accounting and operational processes. This position is expected to balance daily accounting responsibilities with project-based assignments, including improving processes, maintaining documentation, supporting campus training, and partnering with others to implement changes. The candidate must be able to manage competing priorities, communicate clearly in writing and verbally, work independently and collaboratively, and build effective working relationships across campus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of related experience
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile, review, and provide oversight of university, federal, and private funds to support compliance with applicable policies and requirements.
  • Oversee all fiscal aspects of the department including reconciliation, operational accounting journals, cash management, regulatory compliance, and revenue and expense allocations.
  • Support departmental and internal office training through the development and maintenance of training materials, procedures, and resources that promote consistent Accounts Receivable practices.
  • Perform financial analysis and prepare reporting that supports regulatory requirements, leadership decision-making, department operations, audit requests, and university financial activity.
  • Lead projects that enhance Accounts Receivable processes, systems, reporting, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Provide customer service on topics of billing, financial aid, and payment options to students, parents, employees, external customers, and university departments.
