Accountant II

Wisetack
$70,800 - $99,100

About The Position

Finance at Wisetack helps the company understand performance, make better decisions, and move quickly. We work closely with teams across the business to improve operations, not just report the numbers. As an Accountant II, you’ll partner with our Accounting Manager to own key parts of the monthly close, maintain accurate financial reporting, and improve the systems and processes that support Wisetack’s growth. You’ll work across transaction flows tied to consumer financing, merchant payments, fees, refunds, and disbursements. We’re looking for someone who takes ownership, works well through ambiguity, and looks for better ways to get things done. You’ll strengthen controls, improve close processes, and use data, automation, and AI tools to reduce manual work and improve accuracy.

  • Experience owning reconciliations and supporting or managing portions of the monthly close.
  • Strong Excel or spreadsheet skills and comfort working with detailed data sets.
  • Ability to investigate discrepancies, connect information across systems, and drive issues to resolution.
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and ability to work independently.
  • Experience using Claude or similar AI tools to automate workflows, analyze data, improve documentation, or increase the efficiency of accounting processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in fintech, lending, payments, or another transaction-heavy environment.

Responsibilities

  • Own key areas of the monthly close, including journal entries, reconciliations, supporting schedules, and variance analysis.
  • Manage bank, cash, and other balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies quickly.
  • Reconcile financial activity across consumer financing, merchant payments, fees, refunds, and disbursements.
  • Review vendor invoices, employee expenses, and credit card activity for accuracy, policy compliance, and proper GL coding.
  • Prepare recurring financial and operational reporting for internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Support annual audits, tax requests, and related documentation.
  • Investigate differences between operational systems and the general ledger and drive issues through resolution.
  • Partner closely with Growth to understand business activity, support reporting needs, and translate new initiatives into accurate, scalable accounting processes.
