About The Position

The Account Executive is responsible for the sales efforts of the organization with regards to the IAPP’s corporate membership, event sponsorship, advertising, and certification and training products. This individual will demonstrate solutions by using a combination of consultative sales strategies and tactics, including identifying key decision makers, determining organizational goals and needs related to information privacy/data protection, crafting and presenting (verbally, electronically and face-to-face, as appropriate) solutions meeting those goals and needs, overcoming objections and effectively closing opportunities. The individual thrives in a hunter/consultative sales role and is self-directed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year College or university; and a minimum of two year’s related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with CRM software platform a plus

Responsibilities

  • Sell IAPP products to assigned account list of $500 million to $1 billion organizations and other key IAPP clients owning the full end‑to‑end sales cycle—from initial outreach and discovery through solution positioning, negotiation, and close: Organization membership, Privacy and AI governance group training for all delivery modes (self-paced online, live online instructor-led, and in-person), IAPP certifications, Advertising opportunities on the IAPP website and in IAPP publications and other promotional products, including web conferences and Research & Insights projects, Sponsorship and exhibiting for all IAPP events
  • Identify new opportunities and make calls to increase sales, including following up on provided leads and generating self-driven conversations with potential clients through the use of prospecting tools and other networking paths
  • Demonstrate a working understanding of information privacy/data protection and AI Governance law, regulation and practice
  • Effectively use Customer Relationship Management software (currently SalesForce) to record and update leads, contacts, opportunities and campaigns
  • Work with the Events Department, Fulfillment team, and Sales Operations staff to ensure sponsorship requirements are appropriately defined and fulfilled
  • Work with Sales Operations staff to maintain accurate inventory for both events and advertising products
  • Work with Marketing Department to identify sales and lead generation campaigns
  • Create contracts and insertion orders in accordance with customer needs and IAPP specifications.
  • Contribute to the sale team’s efforts to meet revenue goals by sharing opportunities, when appropriate
  • Participate actively in sales team meetings, sharing insights on outbound strategies, objection handling, competitive intelligence, and successful new‑account wins
  • Learn the language of IAPP certification training and membership to be able to provide expert consultation with prospects
  • Represent the IAPP at industry trade shows and IAPP events, as appropriate
  • Manage time effectively to maximize direct selling efforts
  • Practice effective expense control
  • Ability to travel, including internationally
