About The Position

IonQ is hiring a Specialty Sales Account Executive responsible for the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO) and U.S. Combatant Commands (COCOMs). The role brings IonQ's space portfolio—including SAR Data-as-a-Service and SAR satellites, DevSecOps and platform software, TCPED modernization, AI tools, and quantum computing, networking, sensing, and security offerings—to national security missions. The Account Executive will work with sales leadership and a broader federal sales team, as well as product, engineering, technical program management, finance, legal, and customer success partners. A quantum background is not required; expertise selling into national security space or mission systems is the central focus. The role may be based onsite or hybrid at a U.S. office, or fully remote, and requires up to 50% travel.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years selling into national security space, ISR, or mission systems, or equivalent experience, including exposure to large, multi-million-dollar deals with NRO, a Combatant Command, or similar federal customers.
  • Established relationships with senior leaders across space, intelligence, or defense.
  • A track record of winning business in new or emerging markets and building a book of business.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to rally people across teams and make a compelling case.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Candidates must meet the applicable U.S. person or immigration-status requirements for export-control and government-contract work stated in the posting.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience selling both hardware and software into production environments for national security customers.
  • Technical foundation in space systems, ISR, SAR, RF/PNT, networking, cybersecurity, AI/ML, or quantum.
  • Experience at a fast-growing company navigating an early or emerging market.
  • Comfort working amid ambiguity, new products, and rapid scaling.
  • Experience on a distributed or remote sales team.
  • Existing relationships within the NRO and/or Combatant Commands.

Responsibilities

  • Help shape account strategy for the NRO and COCOMs with sales leadership, using customer feedback to guide the approach.
  • Win new business and grow existing accounts across the NRO and COCOMs, with support from the broader federal sales team.
  • Manage deals from initial customer conversations through contract signature and handoff to delivery, while keeping leadership informed.
  • Help define metrics to assess the success of the territory approach.
  • Build deep knowledge of NRO and COCOM needs, competitors, and IonQ's advantages across SAR, DevSecOps, AI, and quantum.
  • Coordinate customer success, technical program management, and other partners to support customers after deals close.
  • Represent IonQ at conferences and industry events alongside the Marketing team.
