About The Position

Steppingstone is hiring Math teachers for both 5th and 6th grades for its rigorous out-of-school-time academic program. The program aims to prepare students from under-resourced communities for college success. Math teachers will focus on strengthening students' knowledge of key math skills and introducing new strategies to enhance their understanding of math content. The role also involves preparing students for the ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam) using the Test Innovators website. Teachers will receive training for the program upon hire. The academic year includes one day of remote classes (Wednesdays) and one day of in-person classes (Saturdays) each week. Candidates must be available for both days.

Responsibilities

  • Strengthen student knowledge of key math skills.
  • Introduce new visual and conceptual strategies to strengthen understanding of math content.
  • Teach 5th grade math topics including operations with fractions, operations with decimals, place value, and coordinate planes.
  • Teach 6th grade math topics including unit rates and percentages, expressions and equations.
  • Strengthen student knowledge of key math skills for the ISEE.
  • Teach application of test-taking strategies for the ISEE.
  • Prepare students for the ISEE using the Test Innovators website.
  • Deliver a 5-10 minute demo lesson during the interview process.
