TUTOR

Beacon Behavioral Partners•Hammond, LA

About The Position

The Maples in Hammond, Louisiana, is seeking two additional academic tutors to support adolescent girls in a residential behavioral health setting. Tutors help residents stay current with schoolwork during their stay, reduce academic gaps, and support their transition back to school at discharge. Most residents are enrolled in four online classes, typically focused on core subjects, while some complete paper assignment packets provided by their schools. Tutors circulate throughout the classroom to provide individualized assistance, encourage engagement, and help residents complete assigned work. Sessions take place Monday through Friday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tutors typically provide services two to three days per week, totaling four to six hours, with specific days coordinated with The Maples. Schoolwork takes place in a primary school room that accommodates up to 18 residents and may also take place in a recreation room that accommodates up to 12. Ideally, two tutors are assigned to each room. Each session includes a 15-minute resident break, which tutors are encouraged to use to begin session notes and documentation. This is a part-time, on-site independent contractor (1099) engagement. The final agreement will outline the scope of services, compensation, schedule, and applicable contractor obligations. Certified teachers are paid $50.00 per hour; college students and non-certified tutors are paid $25.00–$30.00 per hour.
