About The Position

The Foundational Sciences Department (FSCI) in the College of Marine Sciences & Maritime Studies at Texas A&M University, Galveston Campus, is seeking to fill up to 5 full-time Academic Professional Track (Non-Tenure) and/or Temporary/Part-Time (Non-Tenure) positions. These positions are at various instructional levels, including Instructional Assistant Professor, Instructional Associate Professor, Instructional Professor, Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, or Principal Lecturer, with titles and ranks determined by candidate qualifications. Appointments are for 4.5 or 9 months, with a possibility of a summer appointment. The role involves organizing, delivering, evaluating, and assessing chemistry, mathematics, physics, or statistics courses and laboratories, as well as advising and mentoring students, participating in departmental activities, and serving the profession. Academic Professional Track (APT) faculty are integral to the college, working on nine-month contracts with renewal based on teaching and service. APT contracts can lead to multi-year appointments and include a promotion ladder for those focused on teaching. The department is dedicated to student success, offering foundational courses that are critical for students' progression in their degree plans. The faculty aim to be engaged with students, colleagues, and the university to provide academically excellent and pedagogically innovative classes. Texas A&M University at Galveston is the specialized marine and maritime campus of Texas A&M University, contributing to the blue economy through education, innovation, scholarship, and research. It offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in marine sciences, business, blue humanities, marine engineering, and maritime transportation, as well as select engineering degrees. The campus also hosts the Texas A&M Maritime Academy, preparing cadets for maritime careers. Located in Galveston Bay, the campus provides a unique environment for students to learn and work within relevant industries.

Requirements

• Expertise related to chemistry, mathematics, physics and/or statistics.
• Doctoral degree in chemistry, mathematics, physics, statistics or a closely related engineering or science discipline in the field in which the faculty member will teach OR Master’s degree in chemistry, mathematics, physics, statistics or a closely related engineering or science discipline in the field in which the faculty member will teach and significant teaching experience at the college level in the field or in a related field.
