About The Position
ACCEL Schools is hiring a 6th-8th Grade ELA/Social Studies Teacher at Broadway Academy at Mount Pleasant in Cleveland, Ohio. The role is focused on providing a superior education, bringing curriculum to life, and creating a positive classroom environment that prioritizes student learning and social-emotional development. Broadway Academy at Mount Pleasant is an award-winning public charter school serving EK-8th grade students. It is part of ACCEL Schools, a network of public charter schools serving K-12 students across the United States. The school is known for academic excellence, nurturing staff, and a well-rounded education that includes Career Technical Education. The teacher prepares and delivers instruction, adapts teaching to students’ needs, monitors student progress, supports classroom behavior and culture, communicates with families, and collaborates with colleagues. The position requires an active Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area and a bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
Requirements
- Active and current Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area.
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
- Comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment involving frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to properly manage confidential information.
- Ability to supervise students of various ages in settings such as playgrounds and cafeterias.
- Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks.
- Experience working within an urban environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver lesson plans, modifying them as appropriate during the school year.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
- Use research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom.
- Create a positive classroom environment that supports learning.
- Use school-approved curricula that reflect students’ diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
- Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms.
- Communicate and meet with families about students’ academic and social-emotional growth.
- Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning.
- Participate in planning and implementation of non-instructional activities as needed.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
