About The Position

ACCEL Schools is hiring a qualified 6th-8th Grade ELA/Social Studies Teacher at Broadway Academy at Mount Pleasant in Cleveland, Ohio. The role is for an educator who is passionate about bringing curriculum to life, creating a positive classroom environment, and supporting students’ learning and social-emotional development. Broadway Academy at Mount Pleasant is an award-winning public charter school serving EK-8th grade students. It is part of ACCEL Schools, a network of public charter schools serving K-12 students. The school emphasizes academic excellence, a well-rounded education, and a positive school culture. The teacher prepares and delivers instruction, differentiates teaching to meet student needs, monitors and records progress, supports classroom behavior and culture, communicates with families, incorporates technology, and collaborates with colleagues. The teacher also participates in non-instructional activities as needed and performs other assigned duties.

Requirements

Active and current State of Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area.
Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
High comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment involving frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to properly manage confidential information.
Ability to supervise students of various ages in different school settings, including playgrounds and cafeterias.
Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks.
Experience working within an urban environment.

Responsibilities

Prepare and deliver lesson plans, modifying them as appropriate during the school year.
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
Use research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
Manage student behavior in the classroom.
Create a positive classroom environment for student learning.
Use school-approved curricula that reflect students’ diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms.
Communicate and meet with families about their child’s academic and social-emotional growth.
Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning.
Participate in planning and implementing non-instructional activities as needed.
Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
Perform other duties as assigned.
