5th Grade Teacher
About The Position
ACCEL Schools is hiring a 5th Grade Teacher at West Park Bilingual Academy in Cleveland, Ohio. The role is dedicated to providing students with a superior education through engaging instruction, a positive classroom environment, and attention to students’ academic and social-emotional development. West Park Bilingual Academy serves families in West Cleveland with a college-preparatory program emphasizing hands-on, project-based learning and bilingual instruction. The school prioritizes students’ social and emotional well-being and embraces the core values of Community, Integrity, Resilience, and Excellence. The teacher prepares and delivers lessons, adapts instruction to students’ needs, monitors and records student progress, and applies research-based practices and school-approved curricula. The teacher also supports classroom behavior and school culture, communicates with families about student growth, incorporates technology into learning, and collaborates with colleagues. The position includes participating in non-instructional activities and performing other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Active and current Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area.
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
- High comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment involving frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to properly manage confidential information.
- Ability to supervise students of various ages in different school settings, including playgrounds and cafeterias.
- Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks.
- Experience working within an urban environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver lesson plans, modifying them as appropriate during the school year.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
- Use research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom.
- Create a positive classroom environment for student learning.
- Use school-approved curricula that reflect students’ diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
- Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms.
- Communicate and meet with families regarding their child’s academic and social-emotional growth.
- Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning.
- Participate in planning and implementation of non-instructional activities, as needed.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
