About The Position

ACCEL Schools is hiring a 5th Grade Teacher at West Park Bilingual Academy in Cleveland, Ohio. The teacher will provide a high-quality education, bring the curriculum to life, and create a positive classroom environment that supports student learning and social-emotional development.

West Park Bilingual Academy serves families throughout West Cleveland with a college-preparatory program emphasizing hands-on, project-based learning and bilingual instruction. The school prioritizes students’ social and emotional well-being, works with community partners, and embraces the values of Community, Integrity, Resilience, and Excellence. It is part of ACCEL Schools, a network of public charter schools serving K-12 students.

Requirements

• Active and current State of Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area.
• Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
• High comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment involving frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to properly manage confidential information.
• Ability to supervise students of various ages in different school settings, including the playground and cafeteria.
• Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks.
• Experience working within an urban environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver lesson plans, modifying them as appropriate during the school year.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
• Use research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom.
• Create a positive classroom environment for students to learn in.
• Use school-approved curricula that reflect students’ diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
• Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms.
• Communicate and meet with families regarding their child’s academic and social-emotional growth.
• Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning.
• Participate in planning and implementing non-instructional activities as needed.
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
