About The Position

Kenosha School of Technology Enhanced Curriculum (KTEC), a public charter school, seeks a teacher to help build the foundation of the school. KTEC prepares students for post-secondary education and the workforce through industry-aligned certifications and competencies, while fostering character, collaboration, and career and future readiness. The teacher manages a classroom where students can thrive academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally. The role involves delivering rigorous, engaging, standards-aligned instruction, differentiating for a diverse range of student needs, and creating an inclusive classroom environment in which students feel accepted and challenged. Instruction includes nature-based, inquiry-based, and project-based learning, with technology and varied teaching approaches incorporated as appropriate.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in education.
Current and appropriate teaching license issued by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
Evidence of competence in classroom management, learning strategies, individual and group management, curriculum development, and program evaluation.
Strong interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to model the school’s core values.
Desire to collaborate on industry-connected, project-based learning and provide student-centered education.
Growth mindset and ability to reflect on and vary instructional delivery.
Strong belief in inclusive learning environments as a productive and personalized way to educate students.
Ability to deliver instruction through workshops, immersion, hands-on experiences, and traditional methods to meet individual student needs and preferred modes of instruction.
Ability to work effectively with groups and individuals.
Ability to organize ideas and present them clearly and concisely.
Creative, imaginative problem-solving skills and ability to think outside the box.
Experience integrating technology into instruction.
Self-starter with the ability to set and meet goals and outcomes.
Knowledge of competency-based learning.

Responsibilities

Create a classroom environment and culture aligned with KTEC’s mission, vision, and values.
Seek and use feedback to support personal growth, continuous improvement, and innovation.

Serve as an active member of the assigned professional learning community.
Manage, prepare, and implement classroom instruction using current teaching strategies.
Organize and participate in special activities for students.
Design, deliver, and assess nature-based, inquiry-based, and project-based learning, integrating content standards effectively.
Participate in regular staff meetings.
Attend relevant conferences, workshops, in-services, Summer Institute professional development, and professional development required by the DPI.
Communicate with parents through a variety of methods as needed.
Guide placement procedures and participate in placement meetings for newly referred students as assigned.
Participate in selecting curriculum, equipment, classroom supplies, and other materials.
