About The Position

Regina Caeli Academy is seeking a part-time Catholic 5th Grade teacher for its center in Sykesville, Maryland. The teacher will instruct students in a classical, Catholic classroom using a formal Socratic approach on Mondays and Thursdays. Teaching certification and formal teaching experience are not required; training, curriculum, and grading guidelines are provided. Tutors are trained to deliver instruction and manage classrooms according to RCA standards. The teacher must prepare for classes at home and arrive ready to teach in a highly structured environment. The position is hourly and runs Mondays and Thursdays from 9:25 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Childcare/nursery is provided. No additional vacation days are given beyond the academy’s listed vacation and holy days, though accommodations may be made for sick days as needed. Applicants must be able to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church, have a deep love for the Catholic faith, and be living the faith day to day, including having received the sacraments appropriate to their state in life. All staff must complete a background check and RCA Safe Child training before teaching; employees are required to have a clear background check.

Requirements

Deep love for the Catholic faith and ability to sign an Oath of Fidelity to the Catholic Church.
Living the Catholic faith day to day and having received the sacraments appropriate to one's state in life.
Strong communication skills, good organization, and timeliness.
A traditional view of the student/teacher relationship.
Completion of a background check and RCA Safe Child training before teaching; employees must have a clear background check.
Willingness to prepare for classes at home.

Nice To Haves

Experience homeschooling or working with homeschooled children, parish ministry, teaching Religious Education or Catechism classes, teaching one's own children, or teaching in a classical or private school.
Standard computer skills, ideally with Google Suite or an equivalent.
