4th/5th Grade Teacher
About The Position
ACCEL Schools is hiring a 4th/5th Grade Teacher at Cleveland Primary Sports Academy in Cleveland, Ohio. The teacher will provide a superior education, bring curriculum to life, and create a positive classroom environment that prioritizes student learning and social-emotional development. Cleveland Primary Sports Academy is a tuition-free, all-boys public charter school serving grades K–5. It offers a safe, supportive learning environment that combines high academic standards with an athletics-based approach to character development, including teamwork and discipline. The school is part of ACCEL Schools, a network of public charter schools serving K–12 students. The teacher prepares and delivers instruction, adapts teaching to student needs, monitors student progress, manages classroom behavior, communicates with families, and collaborates with colleagues. The role also includes implementing school culture expectations, incorporating technology, and participating in non-instructional activities as needed.
Requirements
- Active and current Ohio teaching license in the appropriate content area.
- Bachelor’s degree in education or a related field.
- Comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment involving frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to properly manage confidential information.
- Ability to supervise students of various ages in different school settings, including playgrounds and cafeterias.
- Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks.
- Experience working within an urban environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver lesson plans, modifying them as appropriate during the school year.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
- Use research-based best practices in daily planning and classroom instruction.
- Manage student behavior in the classroom.
- Create a positive classroom environment for students to learn in.
- Use school-approved curricula that reflect students’ diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
- Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms.
- Communicate and meet with families regarding their child’s academic and social-emotional growth.
- Incorporate technology skills into daily classroom practice to support learning.
- Participate in planning and implementation of non-instructional activities as needed.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
