The Stanford Health Care 3D and Quantitative Imaging Laboratory (3DQ Lab) is a specialized interdisciplinary center within the Stanford Department of Radiology. Its core mission is to develop and apply innovative software and visualization techniques to analyze medical imaging data. These methods directly translate complex 2D data into actionable clinical models. The lab leverages advanced image-processing platforms to support multiple medical specialties, including cardiothoracic surgery, oncology, neurosurgery, and pediatrics. The lab's capabilities include 3D & 4D Visualization (converting standard CT and MRI scans into multiplanar reconstructions, volume-rendered graphics, and virtual endoscopies, and using 4D temporal rendering to assess cardiac and anatomical structures in motion), The TRAC Program (standardizing oncology tracking by mapping longitudinal changes of tumor sizes over time to map treatment effectiveness), Surgical Navigation Support (preparing and manipulating digital models for operating room navigation systems), Transcatheter Mitral Valve Replacement (TMVR) support (providing volumetric measurements and mapping of the venous delivery pathway), and Medical 3D Printing & Modeling (segmenting complex anatomies to print patient-specific surgical guides, custom orthotics, and full-scale bone structures).
